Bridal Kit Essentials! NARS HAUL

First of all, I would like to say Happy February! Its the month of celebrating love and what better time to restock our bridal kits before the busy bridal season kicks in!?

IMG_4978

A snap of my latest NARS Cosmetics Haul and update for my Bridal Makeup Kit

For many makeup artists the biggest struggle we go through is carrying too much makeup products! Let’s face it ladies, when you are a professional or even just an avid makeup lover, we just have loads and loads of palettes! Because of our love for all the newest trends out, we end up carrying way too heavy bags filled with makeup!

So part of my on-going resolution for the year of 2018 is to condense, condense, condense! My biggest goal this year is to be able to give my clients the luxury services they expect of me, but without taking the whole Sephora or MAC store to their homes!

Before I go any further, I need to add, that the NARS makeup z- palettes are just delightful! They are empty black-canvas, magnetic palettes with the luxurious NARS Logo printed in white ink, totally customizable and come in two sizes. Every time I pull out one of these palettes from my kits, my clients just love them! They definitely add a wow factor to my kit essentials, and I have been using their palettes since the day they launched with an array of their blushes back in 2015!

Their Empty Magnetic Palettes Run:

Small: $14

Large: $18

IMG_5035IMG_5034

Being a top tier Makeup Artist with NARS Cosmetics, I have the luxury of getting 40% off all of my purchases with their online and free standing stores! So of course I had to make my way down to their cute little shop on Fillmore Street in San Francisco, CA. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that they carry their pressed powders in palette form as well! So naturally I had to purchase every shade I could get my hands on. Currently they only sell their top 4 popular powder shades in palette form and each pan refill is $25 each. A regular NARS pressed powder compact runs at $37 each, so its definitely worth getting the pan refill for a bridal kit or your own personal palette!

Pressed Powder Pan Refill Color Range:

Flesh: $25

Beach: $25

Desert: $25

Mountain: $25

On top of purchasing the pressed powders for my compact bridal kit, I added on their two most popular shades of bronzers in Laguna and Casino. The pan refills for the bronzers are $27 each. NARS bronzer compacts normally run at $40 each so again, a great amount of savings in the palette form, and much more easier to carry!

Bronzer Pan Refill:

Laguna: $27

Casino: $27

IMG_5029 IMG_5030

Naturally already having their range of blushes and now powders and bronzers in palette form, I had to indulge in a few sinful shades of eye-shadow as well! So I went ahead and got a few new shades to add  to my bridal kit.

NARS Single Eye-shadows:

Biarritz: $18

Abyssinia: $18

Ashes to Ashes: $18

Blondie: $18

Nepal: $18

Sophia: $18

New York: $18

Mekong: $18

Lola Lola: $18

Bengali: $18

Galapagos: $18

Coconut Grove: $18

Persia: $18

Night Porter: $18

Eye Shadow Duos:

Isolade: $25

Madrague: $25

Next I had to try out some new foundation formulas for myself so I opted for the NARS Pure Radiant tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 with lush coverage for a glowing complexion and the New Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation which is a lightweight 16-hour long wearing formula with medium to full, smudge resistant coverage. Best of both worlds I must say!

Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation in: Punjab $49

Introducing NARS’ first 16-hour foundation that stays turned on by the power of radiance. Untraceable. Unstoppable. Unlike anything else. Longwear is finally lightweight—and radiant. High coverage is now super natural. Its breathable, fade-resistant formula is infused with Raspberry, Apple, and Watermelon extracts to help smooth and improve the look of your skin instantly, and over time for full-powered radiance. It wears longer, stays stronger, and looks better with each hour. Specialized skin-matching technology ensures your truest match yet. Your future looks radiant with Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation.

NARS Pure Radiant tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 in: St.Moritz $45

This advanced, oil-free formula provides a translucent veil of color and sun protection while helping to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots in just four weeks. Infused with lush, botanicals and ingredients to immediately help thirsty skin feel hydrated. Kopara from French Polynesia and mineral rich seawater helps to revive and re-mineralize skin for a softer, smoother, and brighter natural glow. Skin is transported.

And, of course I had to add a few lip shades to my bag for myself as well! So I Indulged in two shades from their latest Spring Collection of their liquid lipstick Lip Covers in the following shades, along with a lipgloss to top them off for a touch of shine!

Lip Covers:

Embrasse Moi: $28

Under Arrest: $28

Lip Gloss in: Angelika $26

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Review and Look Details

Happy Makeup Monday Dolls!

I know I’m a little late on the band wagon for the Too Faced Cosmetics Chocolate Bar Palettes, but I’ve been hearing so many raves about this product, I had to give in and purchase it!

First take: The palette smells yummy and you get a really good amount of product for $49! As soon as you open the box, you are welcomed with a soft sweet chocolaty smell and a palette shaped and coated just like an actual candy bar! I chose to get the original Chocolate Bar over the newer Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar because when I tried the colors out at the store, I was attracted to the browns, mauves, burgundies and rich warm color tones of this palette more. All in all this palette has 16 scrumptious shades to play with that work well for a nice neutral eye or with a pop of color as it includes a deep green, royal purple and delicious gold shades as well. The look and feel of the palette is sturdy and soft. The colors come in different textures from mattes, to satiny shimmers and metallic and the color and quality of each shade is moderately pigmented!

20150417_230611_pp 20150417_230649_pp

20150417_231022_pp 20150417_231013_pp

I really enjoyed playing with this palette right out of the box because one, it’s so enticing, you just have to test it the moment you open it, and two it has so many rich complimentary shades that can be worn on any skin type, that you just can’t help but try it out right away! I really like this palette for soft and natural everyday looks. Although it has a range of colors, they go on very soft and can easily be used for day and night transitional looks. This palette also works great for soft work-ready makeup looks at the office! 😉

The colors I used to create my Chocolate Latte look are:                                             Salted Caramel, Semi Sweet, Milk Chocolate, Cherry Cordial, white chocolate, and Marizpan. I know I went a little crazy with my selection but I blended the colors together nicely for a soft look with a hint of shimmer.

Step By Step Makeover with Model Reet

Happy Makeup Monday Ladies!

Today I will be sharing the first of my many Glam Lessons to come online with you all of some the Beauty Industry’s best kept secrets! Today’s focus is on contouring and concealing. The perfect complexion is key to any makeup routine, and today we will look at how a glowing complexion can enhance your entire look!

The process pictured above is a very basic model of contour and highlight. There are many methods and patterns you can use to give your face a more sculpted 3-dimensional look, but for beginners, its best to start with a very simple outline until you get the hang of it and see the results!

Step By Step Process:

Step 1: Apply your eyes and brows before staring the face.

Step 2: Prep Your Skin!

Step 3: Apply your favorite foundation evenly over the skin in a light layer

Step 5: Get your light colored cream/concealer. Apply to the following areas: Under eyes, between brows, down nose, under cheekbone, on chin and upper lip. Highlighting the face with a lighter shade brings that portion of the face outwards and becomes more noticeable.

Step 6: Apply your dark colored cream concealer. Apply to the following areas: Entire jaw line, hollows of cheeks, sides of nose, entire hair line and temples. Contouring the face with the darker shade gives your face definition as it brings that portion of the face inwards to become less noticeable by creating a shadow-affect.

Step 7: After you have applied the cream shades in the proper areas of the face, its time to blend! A phrase I learned from my Instructor at Ash Kumar Academy of Hair and Makeup from UK, that always comes to my mind is “Blend blend, blend is your friend.” Always remember ladies, even if you have put too much of the dark or the light, all you have to do is blend it out! Blending the colors together on your skin will soften the edges and remove excess product from the face.

Step 8: Don’t forget to apply powder over your cream contour and highlight areas! This part is one of the most important steps as it seals the colors to your skin and keeps you looking fresh for hours to come! I like to use my Anastasia Contour palette to set my creams using the lightest shades in the highlight areas and darker shaded in the contour areas.

Step 9: Apply your cheeks and lips! And your look is complete!

  • Expert tip: After blending, if you feel you are not looking even, or are too dark or too light,in certain areas, its okay to take a little extra of the opposite shade and fix the look until you have the perfect soft definition and highlight. I normally color correct like this with my powder palette as blending powders on the skin over your base will give you a more clean and blended look without looking muddy! 😉
